Late goals cost Blazers in 5-3 loss to Americans – Sports

The Kamloops Blazers closed out a tough Thanksgiving weekend with another loss on Sunday, falling 5-3 to the Tri-City Americans for their third defeat in a row.

Tommy Lafreniere, Andrew Thomson and Nathan Behm scored for the Blazers. Nick Anisimovicz, Austin Hemlock, Gavin Garland (2) and Jordan Gavin scored for the Americans.

The game was tied 2-2 after one period and 3-3 after two before Garland and Gavin put Tri-City up for good in the third period.

Logan Edmonstone made 19 saves on 24 shots in net for the Blazers. Lukas Matecha stopped 32 of 35 Kamloops shots.

Announced attendance at Toyota Center in Kennewick, Wash., was 2,656.

The loss drops the Blazers to 2-5-1-0. It was their third of the weekend, having fallen 3-1 on Friday to the Seattle Thunderbirds and 5-4 in overtime on Saturday to the Americans.

Their next game will be on home ice on Tuesday when the Prince Albert Raiders visit Sandman Centre. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
